英语 考场翻译提分必备小技巧

　　zui近几年来，翻译的考察逐渐由以往对于复杂句式的考察转向对词句通顺表达的考察，所以我们本篇文章也重点落脚于此。我们知道在翻译具体操作过程中，若直译通顺，直接直译即可，若直译不通，下面这些词性转换的小技巧往往可以使我们翻译更加通顺。

　　1. 名词转动词

　　英语表达多用名词，而汉语表达多用动词，所以在翻译的过程中可以把名词转换成动词以来符合汉语的表达习惯。

　　(1)In fact, it is difficult to see how journalists who do not have a clear grasp of the basic features of the Canadian Constitution can do a competent job on political stories. [2007-49]

　　【解析】

　　[1] In fact, it is difficult to see how journalists

　　[2] who do not have a clear grasp of the basic features of the Canadian Constitution

　　[3] can do a competent job on political stories.

　　[1]中有how引导的宾语从句， [1]和[3] 是连在一起的，中间夹了[2]修饰journalists的定语从句, have a clear grasp可以理解为对……有清晰的掌握，而掌握这个词在汉语中我们可以把它理解为动词，所以在这我们也可以翻译成动作，也就是，没有清晰掌握加拿大宪法的基本特征。

　　【参考译文】

　　事实上，很难设想那些没有清晰掌握加拿大宪法基本特指的新闻记者何以何以能胜任政治新闻的报道工作。

　　这个句子的结构比较简单，没有复杂的语法现象，重点考查的是考生对词汇的理解，[1]中By all accounts：大家普遍认为，freethinking：思想自由的，courageous：勇敢的。译文：大家普遍认为，他是一个思想自由的人，是一个勇敢的人。[2]中an essential quality：一种重要的品质，译文：并且我发现对于理解来说，勇气是一种重要的品质。其中understanding：理解，这个词从汉语意思上来说也可以作为动词，所以我们可以试着把它翻译成动词，可以对译文进行升级à并且我发现对于理解他的作品来说，勇气是一种重要的品质。[3]中performance：表演，演出，译文：更不用说他作品的演出，其中performance我们也可以用名词转动词理解为演奏，可以进行一个升级：更不用说演奏他的作品。

　　【参考译文】大家普遍认为，他是一个思想自由的人，是一个勇敢的人，并且对于理解他的作品，我发现勇气是一种重要的品质，更不用说演奏他的作品。

　　这个句子整体来看语法结构不难，主要是短语的理解和对词的掌握以及转换，[1] 中justification：理由，认为有理，认为正当，those in need：贫困的人，译文：忽视贫困的人的正当理由，很明显，这样翻译不符合我们汉语表达，所以我们就可以把justification 动词化，理解为为忽视贫困者的行为找理由，同样地，[2]中rationalization合理化，也可以转换为动词，翻译成为剥削找理由，[3]中有and的并列结构，superiority和inferiority相对应，可以译为社会上层人群的优越和社会底层人群的卑微。

　　【参考译文】这似乎是在为忽视贫困者的行为找理由，似乎也是为剥削、为社会上层人群的优越和社会底层人群的卑微找理由。

　　2. 形容词转换成动词

　　在英语中，形容词常常与系动词搭配构成系表结构。而系表结构可以做谓语，从而使这些形容词具有了动词的意思，翻译的时候需转换为动词。

　　(1)Darwin was convinced that the loss of these tastes was not only a loss of happiness, but might possibly be injurious to the intellect, and more probably to the moral character. [2008-50]

　　【解析】

　　[1] Darwin was convinced that the loss of these tastes was not only a loss of happiness,

　　[2] but might possibly be injurious to the intellect, and more probably to the moral character.

　　[1]中我们看到有出现了两次loss of…，意思是…的失去，如果两个都理解为…的失去的话，有点啰嗦，而且在汉语中，失去可以理解为一个动作，所以在这，我们可以利用名词转动词，翻译成失去了什么或没有了什么。译文：达尔文认为，没有了这些爱好，不仅仅失去了快乐。[2]中be injurious to：…的损害，此处injurious和前面构成系表结构，我们可以尝试着译成动词，也就是损害了……。译文：而且有可能损伤智力，甚至更可能损害道德品质。

　　【参考译文】达尔文认为，没有了这些爱好，不仅仅意味着失去快乐，而且可能会损伤智力，甚至更有可能损害道德品质。
