　　英语四级状语从句：让步、条件和假设状语从句是四级翻译中常见考点。

　　1.条件句的5种方式

　　A.由条件副词分句表达，如：

　　If you go out in the rain, you will get wet.

　　Unless a person tries hard, he won’t succeed.

　　In case I forget about the meeting, please remind me.

　　He will be allowed to do it on condition that he abides by all the rules and regulations.

　　条件副词分句里的连词“if”，在某些情况下可以省略，但句子要倒装，如：

　　Should it rain tomorrow/If it should rain tomorrow, I shall not go out.

　　Had you worked harder/If you had worked harder, you would have made it.

　　B.由复合介词“in case of/in the event of”引导的条件副词词组表达，如：

　　In case of fire, call the fire brigade.

　　In the event of an emergency, call up the police.

　　C.由连词“supposing/provided”引导的分句表达，如：

　　Supposing （that） the matter was true, what would you say ?

　　I will lend you my car provided （that） you take good care of it.

　　D.⑷由“but for/but that”引导的词组或分句表达，如：

　　But for your timely help, we would have been in hot water.

　　But that Tom is sick, he would be here today.

　　E.由祈使句表达，如：

　　Work hard and you will succeed.

　　2.让步状语从句

　　A.由让步副词分句表达，如：

　　Although he is rich, he is not happy.

　　Though Jim is learned, he lacks experience.

　　B.由副词“however”构成的分句表达，如：

　　However hard you may try, you will not get the job.

　　We will have to finish the job, however long it takes.

　　C.由代名词“whatever/whoever”等表达，如：

　　Some students refused to work whatever the teacher might say.

　　She won’t care whoever he is.

　　D.由介词despite/in spite of引导的让步副词词组表达，如：

　　Despite being tired, some students went on studying until late at night.

　　In spite of illness, David came to work.

　　E.通过“no matter how/no matter what”所构成的分句表达，如：

　　No matter how cold it is, Helen always goes swimming.

　　No matter what they did, their boss was not pleased.

　　If you ask him, he will help you. 如果你请他帮忙,他会帮你的。

　　If you fail in the exam, you will let him down. 如果你考试不及格,你会让他失望的。

　　if从句还表示虚拟的条件或假设，从句多用一般过去时或过去完成时

　　If I were you, I would invite him to the party. 如果我是你，我会邀请他参加聚会。

　　I would have arrived much earlier if I had not been caught in the traffic. 如果没有堵车，我会到的早一点儿。

　　3.其他引导条件状语从句的连词

　　A.unless conj.除非，若不，除非在……的时候

　　You will fail to arrive there in time unless you start earlier. 如果你不早点动身，你就不能及时赶到那儿。

　　B.on condition(that)...在……条件下，如果

　　on condition (that)...引导的条件从句是主句事件发生的前提条件或条件。

　　I can tell you the truth on condition that you promise to keep a secret. 我可以告诉你真相，条件是你答应保守秘密。

　　C.supposing conj.如果，假如

　　supposing引导的条件从句表示一种假设条件。

　　Supposing it rains, shall we continue the sports meeting? 倘若下雨，我们的运动会还要继续举行吗?

　　D.provided conj.假如，除非，以……为条件

　　provided (that) +从句表示一种假设条件。

　　He will sign the contract provided we offer more favorable terms. 如果我们提出更优惠的条件，他就会在合同上签字。
