口语中常用的单词

　　今天小编给大家介绍一个口语中常用的单词，这个单词有不同的词组搭配，而且在不同的语境下，意思也不一样。虽然这个单词看起来意思很单调，但其实在英美人看来，它是一个非常“俚语”的表达，在口语中经常使用。

　　这个单词就是 "finger"。搭眼一看大家觉得可能没什么，这不就是“手指”的意思吗，但是我增加这个单词搭配起来还有很多你意想不到的意思。

　　1. Keep/have one's finger on the pulse

　　大家都知道，finger是手指的意思，pulse脉搏，keep/have one's finger on the pulse,这个短语的字面意思是“把手指头放在脉搏上”，莫非是中医把脉么？非也。其实finger on the pulse的意思是“紧跟动态”，“消息灵通”，“把握潮流”。

　　请看对话：

　　A: Wow, you always look so classy and beautiful. You really have good taste in clothes.

　　B: Thank you! I just keep my finger on the pulse of fashion through window shopping or watching fashion shows.

　　这个短语的字面意思是将手指交叉起来，通常是用中指压住食指,也有人习惯于食指压住中指。这个短语的比喻意义是 to hope that nothing will happen to upset one's plans, 即“祈祷幸运的降临”。口语中经常用来表示为某人祈福，比如：

　　I'll keep my fingers crossed ( for you ) !

　　我会为你祈福的！

　　A: Tomorrow I'm going to ask Alicia to marry me.

　　B: I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

　　A：明天我要向阿丽西亚求婚。

　　3. put one's finger on

　　把手指放在…地方，其实就是“明确指出，认出”的意思。这个短语通常用在什么时候呢？比如，我们明明认得某个人的声音或是背影，却总想不起来他是谁，可以说：

　　I can't put my finger on the person on the phone.

　　我想不起来电话里那个人是谁。

　　还有一个put 和finger 搭配的习语是：put one's finger in another's pie，意思就是多管闲事。比如：

　　It is none of your business. Do not put your finger in my pie!

　　这不关你的事，别多管闲事！

　　4. with a wet finger

　　不要认为是字面的“用湿手指做…”，这个习语表示“很轻松地做某事，毫不费力地做某事”。

　　5. green fingers

　　“绿色的手指”？Nope! 这个习语其实是对喜欢园艺的人的一种称赞，意思是植物在他们的精心照料下能够茁壮成长。如果说某人有 green fingers，就意味着这个人种什么都能种得很好。例如：

　　Gary has green fingers. Whatever he plants seems to flourish.

　　盖瑞特别有园艺天赋，他什么花都能养的特别好。

　　6. burn one's fingers

　　想想自己小时候，有没有玩火烧到手指的经历？小时候调皮，但只要烧过一次，以后就学乖了，就知道不该玩火了，或者学会该怎么点火了。所以burn one's fingers 被用来泛指使人觉得聪明起来的吃亏上当。例如：

　　He wouldn't listen to our advice and insisted on taking the risk. Finally he got his fingers burnt.

　　他不听我们的忠告，坚持到冒这个险，后终于吃了大亏。

　　7. finger on the wall

　　来自《圣经》，这个成语的字面意思是“墙上的文字（或手指）”，而实际含义是a sign or warning of impending disaster（迫在眉睫的凶兆）。例句：

　　John's employer had less and less work for him; John could read the finger on the wall.

　　约翰的老板给他越来越少的工作，他有一种不详的预感。

　　8. point the finger at

　　“将手指指向某人”意思就是，职责某人，怪罪某人。例如：

　　Don't point the finger at me! I didn't take the money.

　　别怪罪我，不是我拿的钱！

　　从这个短语引申出一个动词是：finger-point，同义词有blame, 也是口语中常用的。
